What Size to Order

Dressmaker's sizes are different than Rack sizes. Take your measurements according to the directions here, then select the Base Size that is closest. You'll be asked to supply your actual measurements when checking out so we can accurately fit your garment to you.

And remember, we believe in treating everyone equally - so we won't charge more for large sizes!
Women's Sizes

How to Measure: Always have someone else measure you. It's extremely difficult to get accurate measurements (which are crucial to fit) when you're straining yourself to reach with the tape measure.

Also, you should always take measurements while wearing the undergarments you plan on wearing with your costume. Whether this is just a bra or a chemise and corset, this simple step helps to ensure accurate measurements and therefore an accurate fit.

Bust: This is not your bra size. The bust measurement is taken at the fullest point of your bustline. If you want a "corseted" effect, take off a few inches from that measurement - how much depends on your comfort level. If you're measuring over a corset, let us know that. It'll help us fit your bodice properly. If you're ordering a corset, don't subtract anything from your bust measurement. We'll deduct a few inches while we're making your corset, for a perfect - and comfortable - "squished" effect.

Waist: Bend to one side and note where the deepest crease occurs - this will usually be the thinnest part of your torso while standing straight. Measure around your waist at that point, keeping the measuring tape close to your body but still comfortable. If you're measuring over a corset, let us know.

Hip: Measure around the widest portion of your body, usually about 9" below your waist.

Length: Measure from your waist to where you want your skirts to end. We usually suggest that this is no longer than ankle length (it helps keep your skirts clean). If you're wearing a farthingale, measure from your waist to the bottom hoop while wearing your hoop and shoes. Let us know the size of the largest hoop as well, so we can make sure your skirt will fit over your farthingale.

Depending on what garments you've ordered, we may email you and ask you to supply some other measurements, such as arm length, neck size, shoulder width, shoulder-to-waist measurement, etc. Don't worry! We'll walk you through the measuring process to make sure you get it right.

Men's Sizes

How to Measure: Always have someone else measure you. It's extremely difficult to get accurate measurements (which are crucial to fit) when you're straining to reach with the tape measure.

Also, you should always take measurements while wearing the undergarments you plan on wearing with your costume. Whether this is just a tee shirt or a shirt and braies, this simple step helps to ensure accurate measurements and therefore an accurate fit.

Chest: Measure around the fullest part of the chest. This is usually right over the pecs.

Waist: Bend to the side and take note of where the deepest crease occurs - this is usually the thinnest part of your torso. Measure your waist, keeping the tape close to your body but loose enough to be comfortable.

Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your body. This is usually about 9" below your waist.

Crotch Depth While wearing a well-fitting, comfortable pair of jeans or other close trousers, measure from your waistband in the front, between your legs, up to your waistband in the back.

Length: Measure from your waist to where you want your breeches to end. This is either below your knee or at your ankle.

Depending on what garments you've ordered, we may email you and ask you to supply some other measurements, such as arm length, neck size, shoulder width, shoulder-to-waist measurement, etc. Don't worry! We'll walk you through the measuring process to make sure you get it right.
